SCR: Alternative sources of energy
14 avr. 2021Autumn and spring is a perfect season to play outside with friends. Our pupils joined fun and learning together. They were divided into 4 groups. Two groups learned about how the wind energy could be useful to people. One group learned about water energy and its possible use.The last group discussed the solar energy. Interactive activities helped kids to understand the importance of the alternative source of energy - water, wind and sun and motivated them to care about the environment. They improved their knowledge about inexhaustible renewable energy sources.
Afterwards, the first group used different plastic bags, wooden sticks and a string. They made beautiful kites. When they were ready, they went outside to try if their kites could fly. Another group made paper propellers. In the afternoon, they went in the school yard to try them. Running with a propeller against the wind made them turn round.
The third group made water mills from different materials – plastic spoons, straws, wooden medical throat sticks, polystyrene, etc. They went to the spa resort and tried their mills in water springs. The last group used the solar energy – they created solar ovens from pizza cardboards, kitchen foil and aluminium foil. – to heat e.g. pizza or marshmallow and chocolate. Yummy! Pupils could see that nature is a great helper in our lives.
