Pachino lies in the province of Syracuse, so we had a chance to see the 3 UNESCO world heritage sites. The first of them was the city of Syracuse. The city is notable for its rich Greek and Roman history, culture, amphitheatres, architecture, and as the birthplace of the pre-eminent mathematician and engineer Archimedes. The city was founded by Ancient Greek Corinthians and became a very powerful city-state. We visited Archaeological Park Neapolis and the largest Greek theatre, we saw the tombs carved into the limestone. The guide explained us the importance of the theatre and different goal for using the theatre for the Greeks and the Romans. It was built in 5th century BC, rebuilt in 3rd century BC  and renovated in Roman period. We came into the 23m high cave carved by a man to limestone. It is called Ear of Dionysius. We could hear how the echo works in such a place. In ancient times these stone quarries were used as prison.

The cross-curricular education was present here. Pupils learned a lot from different subjects such as history, physics, geography, literature and of course English language. The weather was very pleasant and we all spend a nice time in the open air museum.
