The first activity of the day was a guided tour of the city. Pupils were divided into 2 groups. Christine and Fabrice gave pupils the worksheets about the main buildings in the city and as we were passing by them, they could learn important facts about the place, and there were some questions in the worksheet the pupils had to answer according to the information they got from the teachers guides. Pupils worked in international pairs.  The tour stated at the JEan Bart square, named after the well-known corsair. They learned about special belltower called Beffroi, which is typical for towns on France. They are all listed in UNESCO heritage site. On its bottom  there is a memorial for all who helped to free the city in the WWII, among them the Czechoslovak soldiers. Then we visited church of St Eloi, the town hall, Leughenauer clock tower, Notre Dame des Dunes. Pupils worked well and asked questions to learn more about the sights.

Pupils learned about another UNESCO heritage site, and foreign pupils made connection to their national history.
