Dragon of Calais is the work of art, monumental machine and symbol of Calais. Pupils learned that  it is  the guardian of the balance of the worlds, and it is situated at the city's seafront. This saurian is thought of as a structuring element of the city. Through his travels, he meshes the city center and interacts with residents and visitors. It is a colossal construction made of steel and carved wood  by François Delaroziere.  Very expressive, it spits fire, smoke and water in different forms. Mist escapes from its body through about thirty vents. Its eyes, eyelids, ears, mouth, tongue and fins are movable. It can lie down, stand up, run at up to 4 km / h and flap its thick canvas wings, similar to the sails of a boat  The animal is at the same time fire, air, earth and water.

The 40-minute ride would be more pleasant if the wind wasn´t so strong and cold. But in general, pupils had a nice new experience.
