On 24th November 2022, our 8th graders took part in an excursion - an educational program about Slovak National Uprising, all within the Erasmus+ project E4L.

The educational program was intended for pupils of the 8th and 9th grades of primary schools focused on the issue of the Slovak National Uprising. It presented the connection of objective reality and historical facts with the subjective perception of young people of these important historical events.

The content of the educational program was very interesting:

• objective learning associated with tutoring in the exhibition of the SNU Museum,

• group work with the computer info center in the exhibition of the SNU Museum,

• work with contemporary materials, analysis of documents,

• worksheets, wartime uniforms, weapons of that time,

• work with showcases and exhibits focused on a specific issue of the educational program,

• watching a documentary appropriately chosen for the given topic.

The educational program was more than two hours long. (2 hours and 25 minutes). It was done in a very attractive way for the students, they saw, they heard, they tried. They listened to a lot of interesting, although very sad stories, they watched not only the film, but they also saw a lot of real wartime objects, photographs, various things. They could try on real uniforms from the time of the SNU, hold real weapons (submachine guns) of Russian and German production, they could see and understand the actual battles during the SNU in a very interesting way (= a map of Slovakia during the SNU and plastic soldiers).

It was all very attractive and interesting for the students. In the Museum of the SNU in Banská Bystrica, they have really capable, clever lecturers who, even in today's over-technological age, when children and young people really "don't enjoy anything" anymore, are able to impress everyone with their explanations. The 8th graders left satisfied and took away not only knowledge, but also lessons, understanding and respect. We are looking forward to other interesting excursions.
